Today, the number one income-generating drugs are remedies prescribed for gastric disorders, in particular dyspepsia. These clinical conditions have a multi-faceted aetiology and pathology of dysfunction. One likely causal factor is the entero-pathogen Helicobacter pylori. It has been shown to be more than just a commensal related to gastric diseases like dyspepsia (80-90% incidence) and duodenal ulcer sufferers (100% incidence), with a total estimated world-wide population infection of 50%. The current therapy offered to dyspepsia sufferers is a triple regimen of an anti-bacterial, an Ir proton-pump inhibitor, and bismuth colloidal salts.en_US
